A Lesson for Interviewers

MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer learns the hard way… AGAIN.  You should always know the answer to a question before you ask it in an interview, especially when you believe you have a “gotcha”.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

For the record:

Mo Brooks graduated from Grissom High School in 1972 (where he was all-city in baseball and an active member on two state championship debate teams). Mo graduated from Duke University in three years with a double major in political science and economics, with highest honors in economics. In 1978, he graduated from the University of Alabama Law School.  (emphasis mine)

The question I asked myself when I first saw this clip was, “Does she have a degree in economics?” No, not so much.

Brewer was born in in Parsonsfield, Maine, and graduated from Sacopee Valley High School in Hiram, Maine in 1992. She graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University‘s Newhouse School of Public Communications with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism in 1996, as well as a Certificate of Contemporary Europe following her political studies in Strasbourg, France.

She clearly did well in anchorette school, I’ll give her that.  But her arrogant question, “Do you have a degree in economics?”, is further evidence of the media’s undeserved belief in self.  Most of the people we see on Cable TV news are C-student, empty suits or dresses who have their jobs because of their hairline or bust line,  not their well rounded knowledge or impressive intelligence.

Ms. Brewer serves as proof of what we already knew, these people are arrogant, know-nothings who spend their day spitting out what their puppet master has fed them while shouting down anyone who challenges their warped view of reality. On one side they’re the Grover Dill to  Soros’ Scut Farkus.  On the other, they’re  the Sancho Panza to the Koch brothers Don Quixote.  Trust them not.

UPDATE: I confess Chris Mathews is the exception.  He certainly doesn’t have his job for his hairline or bust line.  Admittedly,I have no idea why this guy isn’t sitting on a corner shaking a plastic stadium cup with coins in it.
