There was an article that caught my attention in the Indianapolis Star this week about “Summer Learning Loss“.  You know how your kids complain about having to review half of the past school year every fall?  Educators do that because so many kids come back from summer vacation having forgotten much a lot of what they learned the previous year.  This phenomenon has been dubbed “Summer learning Loss”.  Dale Chu,with the Indiana Department of Education talked about it with me on WIBC.  Following the interview with Mr. Chu, I spoke with a young lady who has lived through the traditional  school year and is now going to college that uses trimesters rather than semesters, she’s my daughter by the way:-)
